Remember in seventh grade when we all had an iPod Mini in an obnoxious color of green or pink? Apple has recently rolled out a new iPod touch in a variety of colors that would blow our old iPod out of the water. But does anyone really go out and buy an iPod anymore? My current phone has enough memory in it to store all the music I care to listen to. It also comes equipt with iTunes Radio and various music apps like Pandora, YouTube and Spotify. I am fairly certain that any smart phone nowadays has the capacity to hold and play music, and because we never go anywhere without our phones, does this make the iPod obsolete?

The last time I went out and actively sought an iPod or any type of Mp3 players was my freshman year of high school. I am currently a college senior and to be honest, I am not sure where my generation three yellow iPod color is, let alone if it even works. (I’m assuming it doesn’t).

With that being said, if I have not purchased or thought about purchasing an iPod/Mp3 player in an upwards of eight years, who is still buying them? Music is everywhere these days. We constantly have our headphones plugged into something. Does this mean that iPods are going to be irrelevant soon? Better yet, what will the next best thing look like? With the way technology is advancing today, I’m sure there is some type of object in the making that will blow my smart phone out of the water in a number of years. What will it be?
