With the kickoff of fall and the PSL making its anticipated return, I can’t help but switch over to my fall wardrobe.  The only downfall is parting ways with all of my summer favorites.  One piece that seamlessly transitions season to season is the infamous little black dress.  Whether it’s my last minute pick for a wedding with friends, the only thing I can find as I run out the door, or a cover up for a day at the pool the LBD will always be a staple in my closet.  My favorite is one I picked up from Forever 21 years ago on the sale rack; it’s 100% cotton and goes with just about anything I pair it with.  I have styled 5 different looks using the same LBD to showcase just how versatile one dress can be.

 1.         Polished Poncho

Ponchos have always been one of my fall go-to’s, but sometimes it feels like there aren’t too many different ways to style it.  I love to throw it over one of my favorite T-shirt dresses to give it an updated twist.  For cooler weather, you can even toss on a long sleeve tee underneath for added warmth. Here I chose to top off my look with a metallic clutch and chunky black booties.  Metallics are typically found more in formal looks but I love mixing formal and casual trends to push the limits.

 2.         Totally Turtleneck

The turtleneck tank sweater is a trend from fall 2015 that I still have not had enough of.  I wear these sweaters all year round, pairing it with ripped denim shorts in the summer and my favorite little black dress in the fall.  Tossing this wine red sweater over my LBD allows my dress to act as a skirt.  This is one of my favorite ways to feel totally fall while the weather is still on the warmer side.

 3.         Sporty Chic

If you haven’t worn a dress and sneakers then you truly have never lived.  This summer one of my go-to Sunday looks was a sundress and my Stan Smiths.  A sporty take on the sleek LBD has me ready for a day on the go.  You can easily elevate your look by trading in your leggings for your LBD.  I like to throw on a zip up hoodie, vest, and tie it all together with a baseball cap.  This look has you looking put together while feeling totally comfortable.

 4.         Playfully Plaid

Sometimes my black leather jacket can feel drab and overdone.  It is a piece I always feel myself gravitating towards every time fall rolls around.  I love trying to find new ways to make my leather jacket feel fresh again.  An easy fix I’ve found recently is by wrapping a plaid printed scarf on top of it to give my jacket an updated feel.  Pairing this with your treasured fall booties, a solid pair of sunnies and your LBD and you’re set for a fall day.

 5.         Lightly Layered

Making old pieces feel fresh is something I am always looking to do.  If I can get away with styling an old piece in a new way, to me that’s the equivalent of buying a new outfit.  Here I layered my favorite “apartment sweater” (see Friends season 6 episode 13 for reference), over my longline army green vest.  By taking a more casual sweater and mixing it with a structured vest created a totally new outerwear piece.  Pairing my LBD underneath, spruced the casual look up a bit, plus a pop of cheetah print from the shoes never hurt nobody.
