National Dessert Day is Oct. 14 and there are plenty of places in Bloomington-Normal offering delicious treats such as Sugar Mama Bakery in Uptown Normal.

Nobody needs an excuse to indulge with a sweet treat, but National Dessert Day is as good of an excuse as any. The special day falls on Oct. 14 and there are plenty of places to visit in Bloomington-Normal to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Emack & Bolio's

No matter the weather, Emack & Bolio's offers ice cream in a large variety of unique flavors, like beantown buzz, space cake, s'moreo and more, with different toppings and cones. There are even vegan options like cappucino fudge swirl and goa mango so anyone can enjoy. The store in Uptown Normal is open from 2-11 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays.

Sugar Mama Bakery

Located in Uptown Normal, Sugar Mama Bakery offers cupcakes in multiple flavors, such as Red Velvet, Salted Caramel, Birthday Cake and more. The shop also has a variety of baked goods from cinnamon rolls to their gooey bars. Sugar Mama Bakery is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.

Insomnia Cookies

Insomnia Cookies is a classic for college students staying up late to finish a paper but still wanting something sweet to eat. The Uptown Normal store offers an array of cookies, like double chocolate mint and snickerdoodle, as well as ice cream sandwiches, cookie cakes and ice cream pints. The store is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Mondays-Wednesdays, from 11-3 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays, from noon to 3 a.m. on Saturdays, and from noon to 1 a.m. on Sundays.

Nothing Bundt Cakes

Nothing Bundt Cakes is on Veterans Parkway in Bloomington and offers a variety of different bundt cakes, from miniature "bundtlets" to three-tiered bundt cakes to anything in between. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Saturday.

Main Street Scoop

For those craving ice cream, Main Street Scoop offers fun flavors from classic chocolate to lavender and honey, sweet cream and cookies and more. There are vegan options as well as different cone flavors to perfectly pair with the cold treat. Main Street Scoop in downtown Bloomington is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.
