Editor’s Note: The Vidette recently surveyed the Illinois State University students, faculty and staff on their favorite businesses, facilities and activities. More than 400 people responded to the online survey. Copies of the Best of Blo-No magazine are still available at sites across campus or at The Vidette Building.
Combining affordable prices with healthy, high-quality products has established Aldi as the perfect grocery store for college students. It should come as no surprise that it was named the Best Grocery Store in Bloomington-Normal.
Unconventional measures such as cart returns near the entrance of the store and customers bagging their own groceries allow Aldi to pass on savings to the customer without skimping on quality.
With locations at 301 Greenbriar Drive and 1025 Wylie Drive, students should have no problem getting to Aldi from campus.
“Since I transferred to ISU, Aldi has been my go-to grocery store,” senior Sabrina Baas said. “I honestly prefer Aldi-brand products to regular ones.”
Alongside what one would expect from a standard grocery store, Aldi offers a wide selection of organic, gluten-free, vegan and seasonal options. It also sells its own version of Girl Scout cookies, making it the only place to find Thin Mints and Tagalongs all year round.
