Back to school means buying supplies, moving into a dorm or apartment, starting classes and for Illinois State University students, a welcome back performance.
This semester an artist showcase with seven different performers will take place from 7-10 p.m. Aug. 23 in the Brown Ballroom located inside the Bone Student Center.
Basement Bars is a recording label in the US for upcoming artists created by ISU junior arts technology major Jacob Hoffman.
Basement Bars Entertainment is the company that does media and hosts shows while Basement Bars Records finds the artists, assists in their careers and signs them.
“We decided the performers on a few different ways: talent, popularity and location,” Hoffman said. “The fourth was who we really wanted on stage.”
Basement Bars has also recently become a registered student organization at ISU which is how they scored the sweet gig. Ten of their 11 employees are ISU students.
“We are very intertwined with the community. We are in the process of adding RSO members from school, we have five or six already,” Hoffman said.
Admission for this showcase is $10 at the door and can also be purchased at basementbarsrecords.com.
