The City of Bloomington will be hosting its tree lighting ceremony at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.

This year the tree lighting will be put on display virtually so that residents of the area are kept safe. The link to join the event will be available on the Downtown Bloomington Facebook page.

This new tradition has been a joint idea by the City of Bloomington, as well as McLean County and the McLean County Museum of History

The new holiday tree will be lit right on the square for these who wish to see.

Those who do join the ceremony will not only get to see the tree lighting but will also get a performance from the Nitsch Arts Theatre.

Nitsch Arts Theatre will be performing Christmas carols during the virtual presentation of the tree lighting ceremony.

The event will allow residents to get into the holiday spirit, even as the world has changed.
