There's plenty to do this weekend in Uptown Normal, including Waiting Room Records' RSD Drops 2020 event from 10 a.m - 7 p.m. Saturday.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend in the Bloomington-Normal area? Check out these five events taking place Oct. 24-25.

'Pipeline'

Illinois State University's School of Theatre and Dance presents "Pipeline" virtually from 7:30-10 p.m. Oct. 24 on Zoom. Guests can register for a performance on their website, however registration closes two hours before the performance. 

The play, directed by Britannia Howe, follows Nya, an inner-city public high school teacher and her son Omari. After a controversial incident at Omari's school Nya has to help him while also confronting her own choices as a parent.

Spooktacular at the Zoo

Miller Park Zoo will be hosting its annual Spooktacular at the Zoo event. The event is from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 24 and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct 25.

Tickets to either day are only available by calling (309) 434-2250. For Oct. 24 tickets guests can call from 5-6:30 p.m. or from 6:30-8 p.m., and Oct. 25 tickets can be purchased from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for non-members and $2 for members on Oct. 24, and Oct. 25 tickets cost $3 for members and $7 for non-members.

The Spooktacular event will offer a scavenger hunt, and kids will get a goodie bag of candy, crafts and treats to continue the Halloween fun at home. Guests will receive a cup that they can take home, which also comes with one free drink. Snacks will be available for purchase. Masks are required and all activities will follow CDC guidelines.

Record Store Day Drops

Record Store Day is next month, and Waiting Room Records are preparing with their RSD Drops 2020 event. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 24, guests will be able to visit the store in Uptown Normal to see what items have dropped for Record Store Day. Masks are required, and guests are asked to keep a 6-foot distances between themselves and the other guests in line. The exclusive titles are on a first come, first serve basis.

'Hocus Pocus' at the Normal Theater

In the mood for a classic Halloween flick? The Normal Theater in Uptown will be showing "Hocus Pocus" from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 24. Tickets can be purchased online for $5 for students and children and $7 for adults or at the box office 30 minutes until showtime. Masks will be required to be worn throughout the whole show and concessions will not be available.

Downtown Bloomington Farmer's Market

The Downtown Bloomington Farmer's Market is held from 7:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday. The market is now in a grab-and-go style, and guests are required to wear a mask and maintain a 6-foot distance from others. Costumers are also not allowed to touch produce before buying, and vendors will bag items.
