Netflix Shows to Binge Watch

"Stranger Things" is one of the many favorite TV shows people like to binge watch on Netflix.

Netflix has been known as the perfect platform to binge watch shows on. While it has a large selection on movies, many users would rather watch a season of a show in a day rather than a movie.

In the recent years, Netflix has been releasing more and more Netflix originals. Some of these that have caught the attention of audiences are “Orange is the New Black,” “House of Cards” and “Stranger Things.”

Netflix has appropriated the culture of “binge watching.” This is when a person watches multiple episodes in a row of a certain show. In some cases, users have been able to watch an entire season in a day and sometimes even finish the entire series in a day, depending on how many episodes.

“The Office” is a huge hit with people around the country. That said, freshman Kaitlyn Diebold binge watches the show all the time.

“I love 'The Office,'” Diebold said. “While I’m watching it I never stop laughing.”

Quirky shows like “The Office” which only have 20 minute episodes are easy to watch one after another. Especially because Netflix has auto play, it makes it so simple to just tell oneself, “Okay, I’ll watch one more.”

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is another good show to watch if students are looking for something funny. These are short episodes and keep a person laughing the entire time. Sadly, however, Netflix is removing the show at the end of the month. That said, this is the perfect time to binge watch while the opportunity is still present.

In addition, doctor shows are also extremely popular. “Grey’s Anatomy” has gotten a great deal of attention over Netflix. These episodes are 40 minutes long, but it basically feels like nothing when a person is caught up in their emotions that the show creates.

Crime shows are also very popular on Netflix. Freshman Jeanna Arjes can spend a lot of her time watching Law & Order SVU.

“SVU is a great show,” Arjes said. “I can watch that show for a whole weekend straight.”

Binge watching crime shows happens quite frequently because watchers always want to know what is going to happen next. This is also the same case for shows that have many cliff hangers at the end of each episode.

While Netflix has been under some heat lately because every month it takes shows off, the streaming-video company is still the ideal spot to binge watch TV shows. With the cold weather coming up, it may be the perfect time to cuddle up and start watching a new show.
