The School of Music is hosting an online event revolving around the cello.

The event is called Cello Popper Day. It will be hosted as an online workshop to help cello enthusiasts become better playing from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event is free to attend but requires advance registration.

The event’s itinerary involves a workshop to help cello players maintain their health while they continue learning the instrument. After that, there will be a warmup and technique class, where participants will be shown healthy cello technique.

After a lunch break, there will be a masterclass made up of Illinois State University cellists coached by Cora Swenson Lee. Following that, there will be a streamed recital, where works by Popper, Romberg, Kummer, Lee, and others will be performed by ISU cellists and local non-college students.

Attendees interested in registering as a participant must sign up by Thursday. Those interested in registering can do so by filling out a form on the event's page.
