For many people, 2020 has been spent binge watching TV shows. One of those shows is "Emily in Paris" which came out on Netflix this year and stars Lily Collins and Ashley Park.

This year has prevented many of us from leaving our home and going places. Most of us spent the beginning of quarantine binge watching TV shows. So here is a list of some of the best shows released in 2020.

'Outer Banks'

"Outer Banks" was released on April 15 and directed by brothers Jonas and Josh Pate. A group of teenagers that live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina are determined to find the missing father of John B, the group’s leader. Along the way they discover a legendary treasure that is connected to his father. The four main characters in the series are John B (Chase Stokes), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey) and Pope (Jonathan Daviss).

'Emily in Paris'

"Emily in Paris" premiered on Netflix on Oct. 2. Emily is an American from Chicago who moves to Paris regarding an unexpected job opportunity that was offered to her. She is there to bring an American view to a highly respected French marketing firm. The main character Emily Cooper is played by Lily Collins. The show is currently only one season and was directed by Darren Star.


The series known as "Ratched" was released on Sept. 18. "Ratched" tells the story of the young nurse that works at an asylum in the ‘40s. She may seem like the friendly, perfect caretaker, however, she secretly develops a strange bitterness towards her patients in the asylum. She ultimately unleashes a monstrous darkness within the asylum. Directed by Milos Forman and starred by Sarah Paulson, this series will leave you with goosebumps.

'Love, Victor'

Directed by Greg Berlanti, this heartfelt show is about Victor, played by Michael Cimino, who is a new student at Creekwood High School. The series takes you through his journey of self-discovery where he faces many challenges at home and school while he struggles with his sexual orientation. This series was aired on June 17.

'The Outsider'

Based on Stephen King’s novel, "The Outsider" is a gruesome and horrific show about an investigation of the murder of a young boy. However, when a supernatural force gets between the murder case, it leads a cop and an investigator to question everything they believe in. The director of this series is Jason Bateman and the show was released on Jan. 12.

'Dead to Me'

Season one was released in 2019 and season 2 was released in May 2020. Created by Liz Feldman, the series is a friendship between Jen Harding (Christina Applegate) and Judy Hale (Linda Cardellini). They meet in a grief support group. Jen is grieving her husband that was killed during a hit and run while Judy claims she is grieving for her fiancé who died from a heart attack. Little does Jen know, the person that killed her husband is closer than she thinks.


Season 3 of this popular series was released March 27. This crime drama TV show will leave you on the edge of your seat. The show was created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams and is about Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney), a married couple who relocate their family to the Ozarks for Marty’s job which is laundering money.

'Never Have I Ever'

This coming of age comedy series will have you laughing in no time. "Never Have I Ever" was directed by Lang Fisher and Adam Shapiro and was released on April 27. Starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi Vishwakumar is about her attempt to return to a normal life, as she wants to return to school with a bang. She wants to get with the hottest boy in school, but she faces many obstacles trying to do so.


Released on Sept. 4, "Away" will have you bingeing immediately. Starring Hilary Swank as Emily Green, the show features an international space crew, a Chinese chemist, a world-leading British botanist with no previous experience in space, a Russian cosmonaut with the most experience in space, an Indian medical officer who is second in command and American commander Emma Green. They travel to space hoping to be the first astronauts on Mars. The TV series was created by Andrew Hinderaker.

'The Umbrella Academy'

Season 2 of "The Umbrella Academy" was aired on July 31 and directed by Jeremy Slater. "The Umbrella Academy" revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite with each other to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an apocalypse. The siblings in the series are Vanya Hargreeves (Elliot Page), Luther Hargreeves (Tom Hopper), Diego Hargreeves (David Castañeda), Allison Hargreeves (Emily Raver-Lampman), Klaus Hargreeves (Robert Sheehan), Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) and Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min).
