The musical won a Tony for Best Choreography in 2017 and was nominated for Best Orchestrations. “Bandstand’s” choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, was also the choreographer for the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton.”
“Bandstand” follows a group of veterans who return home from World War II. To help cope with survivors' guilt and their post-traumatic stress the veterans form a band and enter a national patriotic radio contest in New York City.
The musical shows the trials and tribulations as this group of veterans find a place to call their own back in America, all while singing and dancing.
