In conjunction with Illinois State University Homecoming 2013, The Vidette will mark its 125th year of publication with an open house for alums from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Vidette Building. The open house will be a wonderful chance for Vidette alums to reconnect with their ISU roots. Coffee, juice, doughnuts and camaraderie will be served.
The ISU campus will be hopping with homecoming activity throughout the weekend. In fact, if you arrive at The Vidette early on Oct. 5, you can conveniently catch the nearby homecoming parade, which steps off at 10 a.m. College Avenue and University Street.
Immediately following the open house, Vidette alums are invited to attend the School of Communication tailgate party. The tailgate gathering will run from 11:30 a.m. up to the 2 p.m. kickoff of the ISU vs. Western Illinois football game at newly rebuilt Hancock Stadium. Because of the ongoing construction at Hancock, the exact location of the tailgate gathering is not yet available. It will likely be directly north of the north end zone. More details will be shared when they become available.
We hope you will mark Saturday, Oct. 5 as a red-letter date on your calendar. We also genuinely hope you will participate in both the Vidette homecoming events. The Vidette has been telling stories for 125 years. It’s time for you to reconnect and share some of your own stories – past and present. Homecoming 2013 is the perfect time to do so.
