Students seeking part-time employment on or near campus are invited to join in the Career Center’s Part-Time Job Fair.
The fair will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center.
“Career Center professionals realize the many benefits of student employment and decided to provide the advantage of gaining part-time work through the fair,” Pam Cooper, assistant director for Employer Relations and Professional Practice, said.
Cooper added Career Center professionals also recognize the importance of assisting local employers in recruiting the talent Illinois State has to offer.
There are currently 31 employers registered to attend the Part-Time Job Fair, said Cooper.
“There will be employers from local retailers, restaurants, nonprofit organizations, university departments and more,” she said. “More specifically, some employers include the Bloomington-Normal Marriot, Family Video/Marcos Pizza, ISU Admissions, ISU Human Resources, Chestnut Health Systems, Maurice’s, Buckle and Cybernautic.”
She said each employer will have a unique process as to how interviewing will be.
“Depending on the employer, the fair can set up an interview, or it can serve as an interview. So, students should come prepared. Employers want to meet students who are interested in work, have students complete job applications and conduct on-the-spot interviews,” she said.
It is encouraged for students to dress business casual and bring résumé copies.
Cooper said last fall’s fair had 595 student attendees and the Career Center is expecting a similar turn-out. The number of jobs available is unique each year.
“Remember the possibility of gaining an internship opportunity with employers is there,” she said.
