Tinder is yet another dating app fad that made its mark this past year as a new way to discover potential romantic matches within a preferred distance.
Setting up a Tinder account is quite simple. The users simply need to link their Facebook account with the app and select up to five photos to display on their profile.
Playing the Tinder game is just as easy as setting up the initial account. Users swipe their finger to the right if they wish to “like” a potential match or to the left to dismiss.
“I started ‘liking’ guys on Tinder as a joke at first, and then I saw my friends on it so I liked them as a joke,” ISU student Kathleen Sommers, said.
Sommers said she actually ended up having some interesting conversations with her Tinder matches.
“I’ve had some good conversations and met some cute guys, but never pursued them by going on any dates,” Sommers added.
Each action the users take is kept anonymous from others until a match is made, which means two users “liked” each other.
Since its launch in September 2012, Tinder has seen 7.5 million profiles and 100 million matches. The app continues to grow in popularity as people share the entertainment with their friends.
