The Professional Development School (PDS) Showcase for education majors to inform students of student teaching experience will be held on Thursday.
The event is for students interested in knowing more about the PDS option for their student teaching experience.
Jill Donnel, administrative director of student teaching and student concerns, explained how the event is similar to an open house.
“Representatives from each of the Professional Development School sites will be in attendance,” Donnel said. “Interested students may speak with the representatives to learn more about the PDS option for student teaching as well as to learn more about each of the sites available.”
The PDS experience allows students to complete an extended clinical and student teaching experience in Illinois schools.
“The purpose of the program is to provide extended pre-student teaching and student teaching hours in Illinois schools, and to provide a venue which allows them to immediately implement the methodology that they are learning in their coursework,” Donnel said.
The PDS Showcase will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Old Main Room in the Bone Student Center.
“We want the students to leave the event with information that will help them make an informed decision regarding their student teaching experience when they complete their student teaching applications this fall,” Donnel said.
