The 40th anniversary celebration continues with the Bone Student Center hosting its fifth annual “Late Night at the Bone” event on Friday from 8 to 11 p.m.
This year’s event a “Birthday Bash” theme. It will be a night full of free activities and giveaways entirely for ISU students with a valid university ID. One of the first giveaways is a baseball T-shirt and goodie bag for the first 100 students in attendance.
“This event is for all ISU students as kind of a welcome-back-to-campus that is targeting freshmen,” Bone Student Center Director Michelle Paul said.
Students will have a chance to win a variety of prizes ranging from Skullcandy Aviator Headphones to an iPad mini and Redbird dollars to concert tickets.
There will be free food as well as miniature golf, laser tag, bingo and more. The Bowling and Billiards Center will also be having its free cosmic bowling and billiards open.
“Normally when we have [the event] we’re full,” BBC Manager Rick Holmes said. “The bowling area is always pretty full and the billiards are busy.”
Late Night will be bringing back both face painting and the Unique Twist balloon artists which usually have lines past the 11 p.m. closing time.
“At 10 [p.m.] in the Brown Ballroom we are having a mentalist named Sean Bott, so he’s going to be really funny and do some cool stuff,” Paul said.
Sean Bott, is also a feature comedian for the night.
All vendors in the Bone will be open while the event is taking place, including the Barnes & Noble Bookstore and the Redbird Card Office.
This night is a chance for ISU students to get acquainted with each other as well as the Bone Student Center. The goal is for students, mainly freshmen, to see what is inside the building and all the Bone has to offer so that they’ll keep coming back.
“Students always have a really good time and enjoy the event,” Paul said. “College kids always love free stuff and giveaways that they can get.”
All ISU students are encouraged to come out to this event as the Bone celebrates a huge milestone in its 40 years of service.
