In a recent article in College Social Magazine it was stated that, “your book bag says more about you than you realize.” College students carry around pounds of textbooks and class materials on a daily basis, with some walking a great distance to and from campus each day. Though there have been debates on what type of bag is best, it still won’t change students’ minds for allowing versatility.
While walking to and from lecture halls there are five types of backpacks that can be easily spotted.
The Outdoorsy bag
This is basically any bag you can buy at an outdoors store. If the bag is North Face, L.L. Bean, or Columbia, it screams outdoorsy. It’s nice to be able to fit all your school items for the day, but your walk to and from class is definitely no hike.
The Recycled bag
Now, recycling is always a great option, but if your bag is holy and hasn’t been cleaned since “Jansport” was the popular brand to have, it may be time to buy a new one. Follow along with the recycling theme; buy used and save the difference.
The Classic tote
Victoria’s Secret, Hollister, monogrammed Vineyard Vines all fall into this category. They are a great option for accessorizing, but make sure to switch shoulders frequently, as the weight of the contents can damage your body’s symmetrical alignment.
The Wheelie Backpack
Yes, they do still exist and yes, pulling them behind you at your age makes you look like an Avon lady. Guys can pull this look off much better than girls.
The Purse Disguised as a Backpack
This look can make females look very professional, but if it is impossible to fit the contents needed for class, it may be time to invest in a bigger bag. One can look professional, but the behavior has to match to make it real.
For those who choose not to carry any type of bag, you may be a “No Bag Rebel.” This sounds like a great option, but how is one supposed to eat breakfast or text on the way to class? More power to those who can multitask while carrying a load of books in their arms.
