Though it may not feel like it now, fall is just around the corner, which means cooler weather is bound to kick in. Have no fear, bold colors and heavier material are always there to save the day and we will soon be putting away the tank tops and craving those cable knits.
Make sure your wardrobe makes the grade with these top five fall essentials.
The Lightweight Scarf
The neck scarf comes in many colors and patterns for just about anyone. This is a great piece for layering as well as shielding you from the wind and other elements on your walk to class. You can use this item to either professionalize or play up your outfit. There are also many ways to wrap and wear them.
This fashion statement has been a reoccurring fall favorite since my high school days. What a stylish way to keep your feet warm, and look absolutely adorable as well. A word of caution- stay away from fringe as it gives off a southern western tribal vibe. This is Illinois, not a scene out of the movie How the West Was Fun.
Fall is the perfect time to break out those comfy sweats (Can I get a big “thank-you, Victoria’s Secret PINK?) and luckily, there are many designs and styles to choose from. It is overwhelming how sweat pant has evolved from “one-size-fits all” to Super Skinny Campus Slim Fit Lounge Yoga pants. Okay, that was an exaggeration, but there are styles made to please everyone’s taste. Many college students make sure not to leave home without their North Face jacket. Don’t get caught in the chill without yours!
Leggings are such a versatile piece. Though many would debate that they are not actually considered pants, when paired with an oversized crew neck or long shirt, they can look adorable. Paired with Uggs and a sock bun and you have a comfortable fall outfit. But remember ladies, though leggings may seem like a good choice of bottoms, make sure yours is covered.
Bold Nail Polish
Bold nail polishes and the fall season go hand in hand (no pun intended). Many people forget that their nails can actually be one of the biggest accessories. My personal favorite would have to be Essie’s Bahama Mama. It is bold, but warm at the same time. It flows well with the usual fall color palette, but a bold colored polish can add a twist to any fall outfit.
