Students who are interested in graduate school have the opportunity to meet with recruiters from various graduate schools and programs across the country, at the Central Illinois Graduate School Fair.
This annual, free and no registration required fair will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The fair will be located in the Bone Student Center’s Brown Ballroom and is hosted by the Career Center.
“Students will learn about the types of programs the various schools offer, requirements, obtain enrollment information, learn about application deadlines all while gaining answers to their questions,” Maureen Roach, senior assistant director at the Career Center, said.
The Career Center has approximately 53 graduate school program representatives in attendance. They are hoping for a turnout of about 100 to 200 students, she said.
Anyone is welcome to attend the fair, including all years in school and all majors, but it will be especially important for upper-classmen, Roach said.
“Immediately following the Graduate School Fair, students can attend the Lunch & Learn in the Old Main Room to hear from a panel of recruiters and learn more about the application process. Pizza will also be provided at this time,” Roach added.
The event is casual attire and there is no need to bring a résumé, as the purpose is to gather information rather than an interview process, she said.
The format of the fair will be different graduate schools hosting a table, allowing students to freely come to whichever table they are interested in to gain more information about their programs, she said.
“By attending, students will gain a contact that can be helpful to them during the application process as questions come up,” Roach added.
