This Halloween, all your ghostly questions will be answered. History buffs and supernatural thrill-seekers alike can get their fix of frightening fun, as well as a bit of exercise, on the Rt. 66 Spirits of Bloomington Historic Ghost Walk. The walk will provide an in-depth tour of Downtown Bloomington and show guests exactly where the haunts, well, haunt.
Timeless Presentations, a Bloomington company, is dedicated to regaling locals and tourists alike with their historical tales. Chris Hotz and Deborah Senger, founders of Timeless Presentations, are currently celebrating six years as a business and are proud of the unique performances they offer.
“The whole purpose of our company is to bring history alive. When people come to our tours they are fascinated by the history and amazed at the amount of ghost stories that are in the area,” Senger said.
On each tour, guests can visit a whole host of historical sites, depending on the group’s interests. Groups might visit places like Lucca Grill or Specs Around Town, both known for their supernatural activity.
They might also walk past the famous David Davis Mansion, or the haunted Phoenix-Mid-City Hotel, which has been boarded up since 1965, and is located above Beck’s Family Florist.
Tour guides dressed as spirits will take each group to the most haunted spots in Bloomington, while telling real historical accounts of what happened there, who the ghosts were while alive and how they met their demise. Senger, who is a spiritual medium, said it’s not uncommon for walkers to experience the unexplainable.
“People have had a lot of different experiences. On the walking tour people have gone home, then realized they have captured spirits in their photographs,” Senger said.
Although, their tours are usually only through appointment, the Rt. 66 Spirits of Bloomington Historic Ghost Walk will be open to the public in celebration of the upcoming holiday. This tour will be at 7 p.m. on Friday; however, private tours are available from Saturday through Oct. 24 nights by reservation only.
