Over the last year, construction on Hancock Stadium has been extensive and it has created new parking situations for students on campus.
The project began in August 2012 and was completed Sept. 21, 2013 for the Redbirds home-opener.
The Hancock Stadium Project constructed on the East Side over the pre-existing surface lot G73 which previously had 377 parking spaces. The remaining number of surface parking spaces is 110.
The parking project recently demolished the Outdoor Store across Main St. from Hancock Stadium and created lot G64. This has allowed more parking for our student commuters, Julie North, director of parking and transportation services, said.
Parking lots G73, G74, G64, G83, F62, F64 and F83 will now be designated as athletics donor only tailgating and parking lots.
A few of the other parking lots will serve as public paid parking and tailgating lots. The public can purchase for $10 one space to park in one of the listed public parking lots.
Tailgating spaces for students or fans without cars can purchase a spot for $10 in the parking lots listed on game days.
“The entire Hancock Addition benefits the University,” North said. “The new east side stadium is a great addition to our campus. The fan experience has improved significantly with the addition and the facility seats more people than before.”
