Before I elaborate on an amazing victory by Redbird Football, I’d like to mention something new with cheerleading. This past week, ISU Cheerleading added a new social media. The team now has its own Twitter account. On this account, a select few have the opportunity to post information about practices, games and events along with pictures. This is a new step for the team and I can’t wait to see the feedback we receive. If you’d like to follow us to get updates on the team in addition to the blog here is the Twitter handle, @ISUCheerleading.
Now, this Redbird win was unbelievable. It was my first game back after my three-week ankle injury and it was much needed. The feeling was amazing to be back out on the field with my team and the Redbird players. While I was out, sitting and watching wasn’t the same as actually doing and I needed to cheer. Thankful for my recovery, I was so happy with the game turnout. This Redbird win makes the team 3-0 at home. Playing on your own turf with an amazing fan base always helps bring home a win. Though the weather was chilly, the fans still came out to support the team.
Speaking of the weather, it is difficult to cheer in that condition. The weather was changing frequently on Saturday. One moment it would be sunny and feeling like 60 degrees. The next moment it would be shady and feeling like it was 40 degrees. Weather like that makes it hard for us girls because of our clothing. Layers are important to stay warm but too much bulk makes it hard to lift us. But, on Saturday the guys and girls were troopers and made the most of our extra clothes and stunts were still performed. I couldn’t have asked for a better first game back. I am a proud Redbird Cheerleader and fan!
