You Never Know Where Things May Lead You

I have recently had some disappointing things happen to me. They are nothing I cannot handle. These are the types of things that make us stronger and give us experience. Learning to deal with disappointments in the right way is important; otherwise we may get discouraged and give up. If we give up, we lose out on opportunities that may come our way. I have always known that. But I understand this is hard to accept. Recently, I realized sometimes disappointments lead to other opportunities we may not have expected to come our way.

I have been working this semester toward graduating with a decent job. That means taking the time to get involved and working on getting an internship. Trying does not mean that everything will come easy. I have had some let downs. Sometimes I wonder what I am doing wrong. One let down is understandable, but many at one time make you think, “Why even bother?” Sometimes, I am guilty of thinking that it would just be easier to stop trying. I will never allow myself to do that because that is not the type of person I am. But it has crossed my mind. I keep trying because I believe in the end I will be where I am meant to be and everything will work out.

What I did not realize at the time was that one thing that I thought was a fail on my part would actually turn into something positive. One recent goal I had for myself did not pan out as I had hoped it would, but something even better than what I had originally planned came along. While trying to accomplish my first goal, I came across a new opportunity. Despite my goal not being achieved, if I had not tried to achieve that original goal, I would have never known about this new opportunity. So when we say to ourselves, “Why do I even try?” or “It was not even worth it,” those thoughts are not necessarily correct because something else good could come out of it. All I am saying is that you should never give up and never stop trying because you never know what opportunities are out there.
