Yesterday’s game was one I’ve been waiting for. Although I wasn’t there, I felt like it was. A couple of weeks ago one of my friends on the team told me he was going to propose to my best friend Paige, also a cheerleader. I almost cried when he told me. I’ve never seen a couple so in love. Now comes the hard part—keeping a secret from Paige. I was pretty proud of myself for not spilling the news before she got the surprise of a lifetime.
The proposal was amazing. Doug included Reggie once he took Paige out on the field for halftime at the football game. He proposed in front of thousands of people and the word “yes” was received. I’m very happy for the couple. I’ve seen them grow into beautiful people during their hardships and can officially say they are perfect for each other.
Cheerleaders can find love too. In addition to the proposal, the game went amazing. The Redbirds beat South Dakota 28-14. The cheerleaders performed great from what I’ve seen and heard. We had a great week at practice as well. New things were accomplished like Kristen and Cam’s full up and an all-girl group’s full up. These stunts are when the girls spin to the top of a stunt. It’s a great visual and very difficult. Upcoming, our season is going to be getting busier. Basketball games are creeping up on us so now is the time to be extra prepared. I can’t wait for a new athletic season and for the happy couple’s big day!
