Illinois State University’s top financial officer was named on Jan. 6 as Louisiana State University’s vice president for finance and administration.
Dan Layzell has been at ISU since 2009 as the vice president for finance and planning. He handled ISU budgeting, business, comptroller issues, facilities and human resources.
Prior to his tenure at Illinois State, Layzell was the associate vice president for planning and administration at the University of Illinois.
Layzell will be the chief financial officer for LSU’s network of campuses in Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Shreveport and Eunice. Layzell will also serve as chief adviser to LSU President and Chancellor King Alexander.
The duties Layzell will perform at LSU include executive-level planning, implementing and assessing financial administrative strategies and policies and procedures among others.
Layzell undertook an on-campus interview in an open forum setting held on Dec. 5 at LSU for the search committee and the LSU community.
The hiring will be subject to approval by the LSU Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Feb. 25.
An announcement for an interim vice president and a search for Layzell’s successor will be underway in the near future.
