UPB announces Parachute as this spring’s concert

Pop rock band Parachute will perform at 8 p.m. on March 20 in the Brown Ballroom located in the Bone Student Center.

The concert will be free for ISU students and will also be open to the general public. Tickets will be $5 at the door.

“The concert is being put on by the University Program Board (UPB) and the Bone Student Center. We are co-sponsoring the event together,” UPB Center Stage Chairperson Jenna Cusumano said.

Headliner Parachute is best known for the hit song “She is Love,” and has toured with musical artists such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Kelly Clarkson, The All-American Rejects, Plain White T’s and Andy Grammer.

They are currently touring the country, making a stop at the House of Blues in Chicago on Saturday.

ISU students will be able to avoid the crowd and the commute to see the band free of charge in the comfort of the Bone Student Center.

“Skyler will be the opening act,” Cusumano said. Skyler is a solo musician from York, Maine. According to Skyler’s website, he was a “multi-instrumentalist” by 7th grade. In addition to singing, he can play guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. Skyler has opened for The Band Perry and toured with Rookie of the Year.

Previous concerts hosted by the UPB and Bone Student Center have included Timeflies with Chiddy Bang and D1rty No1ze last semester, The All American Rejects last year and many more, including artists such as Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and Sister Hazel.

Students attending the concert should remember to bring their Redbird IDs for free admission.
