A new year is here and that means a fresh start. I’m taking a new outlook on the year. Cheerleading is a major part of my life but I’m introducing the positive attitude and happiness into my everyday routine. With my new positive attitude, I’ve noticed a change and I’m enjoying it! This semester is going to be rough with classes and cheerleading so this is the start I need. Next week, on the 22nd there will be a big game for the ISU men’s basketball team and the cheerleaders. The Redbirds take on the Wichita State Shockers for an intense game. I’m excited to get back into the games and have the students back in the fan section. Over break, the games weren’t the same without the Redbird spirit from the students. In addition to the games, the team and I are working on our performance routine for the IHSA State Cheerleading Finals on February 7th. The routine features some basic and difficult stunts and tumbling to a mix of music. This performance is something that everyone looks forward to because the fans can finally see what we’ve been working on all year that isn’t showcased at the games. We will also be performing the routine at halftime of a men’s game but the date isn’t available yet. I’m looking forward to the upcoming games and practices. I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. I’ve missed my teammates in our 31 days apart. Lets go Redbirds!
