Women’s hoops recognizes cancer survivors

The Illinois State women’s basketball team’s victory over Southern Illinois on Feb. 16 marked its fourth annual Play 4 Kay game. At halftime, the Illinois State Athletics Department recognized cancer survivors and sold over 100 luminaries and Play 4 Kay shirts. Seventeen participants ran or walked on treadmills throughout the game to show their support.  Sponsors of the event included Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Community Cancer Center, the Mennonite College of Nursing, Student Nurses Association of Illinois State, and the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. In all, the event raised $21,000.
