Steelers sign Troy Polamalu to three year contract

After much curiosity about what the struggling Steelers might do with their salary cap situation, it has been decided that veteran safety Troy Polamalu will be staying through 2016. Polamalu is currently soaking up $11 million, which the Steelers are looking to restructure to better fit his current performance level and to give them a chance to sign more talent. “How we structure or restructure (Polamalu’s contract) is something we will look at in the next few months,” team president Art Rooney II said. “There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle, but I certainly expect Troy will be one of the pieces to that puzzle. He’s obviously been one of the greatest Steelers of all time.”
