Students are encouraged to wear green to all fitness classes today in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Students are invited to get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day at the Student Fitness Center and McCormick Hall.

Beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing throughout the day, those who wear green to any fitness class offered today will be eligible to win prizes from the instructors of the classes. T-Shirts are among the prizes up for grabs.

Today’s classes include yoga, functional yoga, athletic yoga, restorative yoga and meditation, Zumba, Total Body Tone, INSANITY, Cardio Sculpt, Zumba Toning, Crunch Time, Hard Core and Barre Toning.

Cycling and Blacklight riding classes will also be ongoing today.

“Fitness wanted to do something fun and different,” Andy Reed, marketing director of campus recreation, said of the classes encouraging students to dress in festive wear.

The fun holiday spin on fitness classes will give students the chance to have some fun while still getting exercise.

Reed mentioned the benefits of going to group fitness classes regularly.

“It’s a good way to get people involved in a group atmosphere; the instructors go through training to be able to lead the classes.”

“It’s also a good way to keep in shape and shake up your work out if you don’t want to be working out alone,” he added.

Sign-up for the classes are not necessary; just come to class wearing green and have your student ID to join in on the fun.
