New ISU Galleries to be built on the first floor of the Uptown Station parking deck will be ISU’s main art exhibition space, and is expected to be completed by August.
The Normal City Council on Monday approved a maximum price of $1.35 million for the project with general contractors Mangieri Companies.
Illinois State University will repay this cost with four percent interest over the next five years.
Due to this new project that will become ISU’s primary art space, the gallery space in the Center for Fine Arts will be reduced.
If any changes to the project’s plan are to be made, the university would have to approve them and Mangieri would be responsible for covering any costs that exceed the agreed $1.35 million.
