The campaign for governor heats up in what some call the hardest fought and most expensive race in the nation. Republican Bruce Rauner came out on top for the Republican candidate as well as Pat Quinn for reelection after the primary earlier this week. Quinn has pushed to increase taxes and for raising the minimum wage, while Rauner has plans to curtail government unions and run Illinois like a business. Rauner spoke at a celebration ceremony after the primary saying he wants to “bring back Illinois” by giving working families a better chance at education, an increase in income by lowering taxes and making Illinois more business friendly. Quinn spoke at a separate ceremony saying that he is still pushing for an increase in minimum wage highlighting that Rauner flip-flopped on the topic during his campaign.
