Sandage for next sheriff

McLean County Sheriff’s Lt. Jon Sandage came in top over Jeff Elston in the Republican nomination for the McLean County sheriff primary this Tuesday. Sandage had about 2,500 more votes and has no candidate to compete against in the November election. Sandage has been with the agency for 23 years in charge of the Criminal Investigations Division. Sandage will take over as sheriff on Dec. 1 as he replaces current Sheriff Mike Emery, who will not be seeking a third term. Emery endorsed Sandage saying “Jon stayed focused, worked hard and he will be ready to go to work Dec. 1.”
