Main Street in Normal from Virginia Avenue to Cullom Street will be kept to one lane of traffic, potentially until mid-July, so a water main can be relocated before the Illinois Department of Transportation bridge replacement project begins.
The project needs to be completed before IDOT restores the bridge that runs over Sugar Creek in Normal.
The project is expected to be about $1.4 million to complete. In addition to replacing the bridge, new sidewalks will also be built.
There will also be other expected lane closures around the area to take place later in the year when the city of Bloomington relocates two of its water mains.
