The Illinois State baseball team found two victories last weekend. It first took Robert Morris in a 13-0, seven-inning game on Thursday. ISU then bested Webster University, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

In their game against Robert Morris on Thursday night, the Redbirds (21-11, 5-4 MVC) run-ruled the Eagles and were led by Matt Lambert, who worked four perfect innings for a 13-3 decision.
ISU scored in all but one frame and held a no-hitter going into the final inning until the Eagles managed to record a one-out hit.
In Lambert’s first victory, he accomplished a career-best four innings with a career-high of five strikeouts. Ben Hecht, Cam Verbeke and Joe Claver all contributed to the final three scoreless frames for the Redbirds.
Kris Mosdale of Robert Morris was taken out of the game after he allowed four runs, two earned, on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts after two innings.
Jack Czeszewski had three hits and scored two runs as the Redbirds’ leadoff hitter. He also added one RBI.
Paul DeJong added two hits and two RBI, followed by Sean Beesley with four runs and a career-high tie of three stolen bases.
ISU scored two runs in each of the first two innings. DeJong recorded an RBI-double in the first and later scored on a Mike Hollenbeck sacrifice-fly. Cody Voelker and DeJong had RBI tallies in the second to give Illinois State the 4-0 lead.
ISU scored six runs over the last two innings to close the game at 13-0 after seven innings.
ISU 3, Webster 1
Although ISU and Webster found themselves locked in a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning on Sunday, ISU was able to pull ahead and take the win, 3-1.
Three Redbird pitchers allowed just one run on seven hits, as ISU improved to 6-2 at home this season.
Dan Savas started the game, allowing three hits in two innings. Dylan Craig gave up just two hits and struck out four Webster batters over three innings. Jeremy Rhoades then pitched the final four frames, allowing one un-earned run on two hits while striking out three for the win.
Daniel Dwyer led the Redbirds’ offense, going 3-for-5 with one run scored. Mike Hollenbeck tallied the first run of the game and ended the game 1-for-3 with a walk.
Jack Czeszewski and Brock Stewart each came in with one run during the game.
Logan Leverett and Stewart gave the Redbirds the 2-1 lead and the winning run came from a bases-loaded walk by Czeszewski, plating Stewart and giving ISU the 3-1 advantage heading into the ninth inning.
ISU maintained the lead throughout the ninth inning and ended the game with a 3-1 victory.
The Redbirds will have Monday off before they are set to host in-state rival Illinois at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, on Walking Taco Day at Duffy Bass Field.
