The last Campus Recreation Adventure Program activity for the 2013-2014 school year will be the Mackinaw River Paddle on April 27.
Students are invited to join in on the fun beginning at 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Congerville, Ill., for a day of canoeing and kayaking with other fellow students.
“We all know that students get stressed this time of year with finals, major projects and graduation,” Bill James, adventure program assistant director, said.
“These activities are a great way to reduce stress and make this time of year far more enjoyable.”
In addition to the activity, Campus Recreation will provide a healthy lunch and snacks to ensure that students get a nutritious meal as well, he added.
The fee for students and Student Fitness Center members is $15, while the cost for faculty and staff nonmembers is $30.
“We strive to provide innovative and exciting programming,” James said.
“We want to provide students with opportunities to explore new interests and develop their skills, as well as developing new friendships and exploring new destinations.”
Online registration is available or can also be completed at the Student Fitness Welcome Center before noon on April 22. The fee covers transportation, lunch and equipment for the day.
“The River Paddle is a great opportunity for students to get outside, try something new, meet new friends and have fun,” James said.
For almost 40 years, the ISU Adventure program has provided students with the opportunity to get connected to their environment and enjoy outdoor explorations with their fellow Redbirds.
Past activities the Adventure program has coordinated include camping under the stars, rock climbing and team building exercises.
The program encourages students to pursue building new skills as well as taking advantage of the workshops the program has to offer.
