An investigation continues over the four-car accident in Minonk at the 31 milepost on I-39 this past weekend.
The accident injured six individuals and killed one. The deceased was identified as Nancy Hylla, 83, of LaSalle.
For unexplained reasons, Hylla’s vehicle drove off the highway and through the median into northbound traffic. The vehicle struck a car driven by Robert Limke, 44, of Rockton, head on.
Limke was transported to Peoria where he suffered life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
After hitting Limke’s vehicle, Hylla struck another northbound vehicle with the driver of Richard Scoles, 62, and his passenger Sally Scoles, 61, both of Streator. Their conditions are not yet disclosed but not life-threatening.
A fourth car heading northbound attempting to avoid the accident, driven by Danny Clifford, 66, of Batavia, drove into the median and rolled his car. Clifford also had a passenger, Deborah Clifford, 57, also of Batavia. Their conditions are also not yet disclosed but are not life-threatening.
