Constitution Trail to host photo contest

In honor of the Constitution Trail’s 25th anniversary, Bloomington-Normal officials would like to know what the community’s favorite part of the trail is by snapping a photo.

“How do you use the trail the most and what do you love about it,” Heather Wagner, Communications Manager in Normal, said.

“Is there a favorite spot that they always go to that they like to walk their dog? Is there a section they prefer to bike or run? Is there an area of the natural trees and settings they like to see?”

The 25th anniversary celebration will take place May 10 at the Connie Link Amphitheatre in the morning leading into the afternoon. Community members are invited to share and participate by posting a photo to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #myblonotrail.

“We hope to really engage participation as we only have 30 entries or so,” Wagner added.

The five photos that get the most publicity through these social media outlets will be posted to the Town of Normal’s website for a community vote in order to determine the grand prize winner. Wagner said any photos that may be considered inappropriate or disrespectful would be disqualified from the contest.

The top-scoring photo will receive a bike from the Vitesse Cycle Shop. The winner will be announced at the celebration.

Community voting started Monday, and can be completed online.

“I run up and down and all over the trail; I really appreciate the scenery going into downtown Bloomington,” Kaleigh Sprague, special education sophomore, said.

There will be a celebration in honor of this milestone, which will feature a history of the trail, a ceremony recognizing its key founders and the revealing of the new trail logo.
