The Redbird men also played Friday where they had better luck against familiar rival Bradley. The Redbirds won the first round match-up 4-0 to advance them to the semifinals against Drake.
In singles action, Brunskog defeated Arthur Romanet of Bradley by a score of 6-3 and 6-3 in No. 1 singles. In No. 3 doubles play, Oliveira and Brunskog defeated their opponents Nico Ratikin and Rodefeld, 8-4. There was one doubles match that went unfinished with a score of 6-7, however, and that included ISU’s Eisner and Torrellas and Bradley’s duo of Ashton Kalhorn and Weerasinghe.
“I’m happy with the win today. We started a little nervous in the doubles, but held on for the point. Singles was much better as the guys settled down and played well,” Klysner said.
The Illinois State men finish their season with an overall record of 8-13 and a conference record of 1-3.
