Bloomington’s Habitat for Humanity ReStore will celebrate five years on Thursday.
Since doors first opened in 2009, the ReStore has grown tremendously through generous community contributions and a strong group of volunteers and staff.
Manager Marcus Hayes said that the site has diverted over 1,078 tons of materials from landfills through reuse and has raised enough money to build 10 Habitat homes in the community.
According to Hayes, the key ingredient to the site’s success is community involvement through volunteer work, donation and purchases.
The ReStore prides itself on providing affordable materials for home improvement projects, as well as accepting practically any item for donation and picking donations up free of charge.
