Mariah Carey, American singer-song writer, producer and actress, plans to release her 14th album – Beyoncé style.
For those of you who don’t know the power of Beyoncé, the pop diva dropped a surprise album this past year, selling 310,000 albums in its second week of release.
Carey plans to replicate Queen B’s success by releasing her own surprise album. The only problem the surprise is clearly no longer a secret.
Carey became famous in the 90s after releasing her self-titled album. Carey later became one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
The Huffington Post reported that rumors of the album drop began online when information from Digital Spy alluded to an official press release calling for a “surprise” for Carey’s fans.
There are also rumors of one of Carey’s dancers tweeting about the special project in the making.
According to Billboard, Carey has been working on the album since 2010. Billboard’s most recent cover story is on the famed Mariah Carey and her newest plans. The magazine hit the stands yesterday.
Carey revealed to Billboard that she has been working on the album for quite sometime. She will debut the album title, track list, music and artwork simultaneously online.
Billboard reported that Carey plans to have past album contributors appear on her newest release. Artists like Rodney Jernkins and Jermaine Dupri are back to perform with Carey for album 14. Billboard also reported a few new feature artists such as Wale, Nas and Trey Songz.
Despite some speculation, Carey’s surprise album will not be her last.
“I will always make music. When I said it could be my last, that’s because tomorrow’s not promised to anyone,” Carey said.
