John Jones leads Barbados to sixth place at CBC Championships

Illiniois State senior forward John Jones had the honor of representing his homeland Barbados in the 2014 Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships which lasted from July 1-July 5.

Jones was one of 12 selected men to represent the county of Barbados. Just one of two from the US, Jones was joined by fellow-U.S. student-athlete Kregg Jones, a redshirt senior at Cal State Bakersfield.

While at ISU, he averaged 4.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game. He helped lead Barbados to a sixth place finish at the weeklong event, which wrapped up Saturday.

In Barbados reclassification game against Antigua last Friday, Jones tallied up nine points along with six rebounds.

In a narrow loss to the British Virgin Islands, Jones grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in 26 minutes of work for Barbados.

During the CBC Championships, Barbados had a 2-3 record overall finishing in sixth place after losing in the fifth-place game to Guyana.

Originating from St. Michael, Barbados Jones contributed highly during his junior year at ISU. He shot an even 50 percent from the field (50-for-100) averaging 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds in 23 games and 13 starts as a junior in the 2013-2014 season.
