Christina Aguilera and fiancé Matt Rutler welcomed a new baby girl into the world last week. The baby’s name is something a bit “earthy:” Summer Rain.
The name seems only appropriate, since the baby’s birth almost perfectly marks the very end of summer.
The singer gave birth to the child in Los Angeles via C-section on Saturday. Already mother to 6-year-old son Max Liron (with ex-husband Jordan Bratman), Aguilera is fully embracing her second child and the addition to her motherhood.
In March, the couple found out they were expecting a baby girl. She told PEOPLE magazine that they were both “very excited” to meet their baby girl. Her pregnancy was described as “easy and enjoyable.”
The pregnancy was announced in February, a week after her engagement to Rutler, a film producer she met on the set of the film “Burlesque.”
Aguilera celebrated her baby shower over summer, attending as the party’s guest of honor. Held in early July, the event was said to be “romantic” looking, with candles lit everywhere.
The celebration was also accompanied by a risqué looking cake. Aguilera appeared extremely happy and excited to be celebrating.
Aguilera has also spoken of the extreme confidence she had in her body, even throughout pregnancy.
“As a woman,” she said “I’m proud to embrace my body through all stages of life, staying fearless and confident in surrendering to the unknowns the future has in store.”
As if that was not enough, Aguilera was also comfortable posing nude for V Magazine, while still pregnant.
She wrote a thank you to V on Instagram after the shoot, saying she was thankful to be given “the freedom to bare my soul & body,” at this special time in her life.
Aguilera’s bodily confidence, even throughout pregnancy, is inspirational to women everywhere. Her constant postive public statements regarding pregnancy help women embrace the changes they, too, undergo.
Aguilera also tweeted fans on August 18, writing that the couple was “so proud to welcome” their daughter into the world. The announcement received positive replies and congratulations from fans all over the world.
