Comedian, musician and ISU alumnus Craig Robinson will be coming to campus 7:30 p.m., Saturday Sept. 13 at Braden Auditorium in the Bone Student Center.
Robinson’s performance will be among other activities in celebration of Family Weekend.
“I think Family Weekend is the perfect time to bring an act like this to Braden,” Barb Dallinger, associate director at the Bone Student Center, said. “Parents might recognize him more from his work with ‘The Office’,” she said. “Students might know more about his movies or music.”
One of Robinson’s most well-known parts is the Dunder-Mifflin employee Darryl Philbin from the TV show “The Office.” Robinson has also acted in movies such as “Knocked Up,” “Pineapple Express” and “This is the End.”
Dallinger said she thinks that there will be something for everyone in the show.
The performance will include stand-up comedy by Robinson, as well as music performed by his band, Craig Robinson and the Nasty Delicious.
“As a former music teacher, he’s tremendously talented,” Dallinger said.
Robinson received a bachelor’s degree in music from ISU and a master’s degree in education from St. Xavier University in Chicago.
Dallinger said she hopes both parents and students realize the importance of Robinson being an alumnus.
“He’s a movie and television star. He’s an accomplished musician. But he’ll always be a Redbird,” she said.
Tickets are on sale now at $32 for all seats.
Determining ticket prices is a math-based decision, Dallinger said.
“I have to estimate my costs to put on the show,” she said.
Costs include labor, equipment and artists’ fees, as well as food, lodging and transportation for the artist, she added.
“Then it’s a matter of deciding how much money I need to generate to pay all those costs with ticket revenue.”
Tickets are available at the Braden Box Office or at ticketmaster.com.
