For all ISU fans anticipating the basketball game against Bradley University on Wednesday, there is an opportunity to win a shirt to wear to the game.

Starting at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 200 shirts will be handed out daily. If all 200 shirts are passed out sooner than 3 p.m., then there are no more shirts for the day. All shirts on Monday were handed out as soon as 12:30 p.m.

“The sing for a shirt event is basically the spirit committee going out on the Quad in a golf cart and we ask people to sing the fight song for a ‘Battle Bradley’ T-shirt that they can wear on [Wednesday] the 13,” Ryan Fernandez, UPB’s Redbird spirit chair, said.

While singing to a golf cart may be out of the ordinary, it gets the Redbird spirit up in the air and is a chance to break out and be different.

Winning a prize to wear against ISU’s top rival school in exchange for singing the fight song is a way to not only meet new people on the Quad, but also a way to either add to a collection of school T-shirts or begin a new one.

“[The shirt is a Battle] Bradley shirt,” Fernandez said. “It’s a red shirt that basically has Reggie on the top and it says ‘Don’t keep calm and Battle Bradley.’”

Those who are too shy to show off their singing voices can simply say the fight song lyrics, Fernandez explained.

There are also cards to use for those who do not know the fight song at all.

“Sometimes we have to go up to [students and ask them to sing], but normally the students are really eager to do it and they come up to the cart and want to sing,” he added.

Most people who come up to the cart are those who love to sing, but anyone in the Redbird community is encouraged to find a golf cart, sing and get a free T-shirt.

For more information and to find out if there are extra shirts on Wednesday, visit the UPB office on the first floor of the Bone Student Center.
