Campus Dining Services and the Association of the South Campus will sponsor a cultural dinner Thursday, March 26 at Southside in Feeney Dining Center.

The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and feature foods from multiple countries.

"There will be Mediterranean, Italian and Asian to name a few," Tracy Widergren, marketing coordinator of Campus Dining, said. "There will even be Egyptian chocolate pumpkin cake so the selection is pretty wide."

Menu items include such items as matzo ball soup, Thai turkey salad and couscous with roasted tomatoes. A complete menu is located on the Campus Dining Web site.

The dinner is part of the ASC's cultural program that will take place throughout the day at Atkin-Colby and Hamilton-Whitten residence halls.

"The cultural program is a multi-faceted event," Kim Heilenbach, president of ASC, said. "There will be tables set up all over Southside."

"There will also be a scavenger hunt for students to enter to win an iPod shuffle."

There will also be Latin dancing lessons and cultural booths located throughout the day. The event will let international students interact with the people around them.

"We wanted to get international students involved and give us a chance to learn about their cultures," Heilenbach said. "It will help the residents of Southside to create a good community that will make sure everyone is happy."

The event will be the first conjunction for both ASC and Campus Dining.

"We are very excited that Campus Dining agreed to partner with us to offer our residents the chance to experience different cultures through their cuisines," Heilenbach said. "We encourage everyone to come out and try these great dishes as well as share in other cultural experiences."

All meal plan holders can participate in the event by using one access from their meal plan. Non-meal plan holders can attend with a fee of $9.
