I'm going with Phat Albert suiting up in Cubby blue, in a close decision. It's not a probable scenario, but the Cubs are legitimates contender for The Machine's services. Albert has been on an unprecedented run where he has been the best player in the MLB since his first season 2001. He became the first National League player since Rogers Hornsby in the 1920s to achieve a "decade triple crown," leading the league for the entire 2000s in cumulative batting average (.334), home runs (366) and runs batted in (1,112). He is an equal opportunity hitter performing as well in the clutch during the postseason, as he does during the regular season. Go to this clip to see how Pujols did in the 9th inning of an elimination game against All-Star closer Brad Lidge when the Cardinals were behind and down to their last out. Albert has proven to be as incredible person off the field by visiting the Dominican Republic to help the poor with supplies and medical assistance. He is also most noted for his unending work for those with down syndrome including the Pujols Family Foundation which plans events and helps raise money and awareness for those with or dealing with the condition. Albert you're welcome to Chicago anytime, the city will greet you with open arms if you decide to play the next few seasons with the friendly confines of Wrigley field as your home ballpark. Even if you are asking $30 million over the next ten seasons, make yourself right at home. Please? |
