I mean come on, they take the lives of these teenage mothers and broadcast it for all to see. I’m sure that the original intentions were to steer sexually active teens in the right direction, but unfortunately I think that it has actually had an opposite effect. My girlfriend absolutely loves this show so I’ve seen more than my fair share of episodes… and that’s not a good thing either. Every time I do happen to tune in I can’t help but find myself wondering what the people at MTV were thinking. First of all, a majority of these young women are doing a god awful job at raising their children. This lack of responsibility, in many cases, results in the teenager’s parents caring for the baby. In reality, the show should be titled “Teen mom mothers” seeing as the real baby mamas seem to be more concerned with going out and partying than actually taking care of their own kids. Maybe I’m being a little too critical but I doubt it. These kids are screwing up their lives, yet they are put in the spotlight as if they are celebrities of some sort. And don’t even get me started on the fathers. For the ones who do actually care to be a part of their children’s lives, they seem to be more focused on being seen on television than anything else. I, for one, can’t stand to see these sad scenarios played out for all to see. It almost seems as if “Teen Mom” is glorifying teenage pregnancy in a way. I even heard rumor that some teenagers are purposely getting pregnant in an attempt to make it one the air! What is the world coming to? We’re basically paying these teenagers for making a life changing mistake. This doesn’t seem right to me. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree, please share your thoughts. |
