What's on my mind? The end of celebrity dating shows?

In this day and age, television seems to be becoming full of tasteless reality shows.

Celebrity dating shows, in my opinion, have to be right up there at the top of the list because honestly, who cares whether or not these people find their true loves by way of some ridiculous competition?

Everyone from hip hop stars to professional athletes have tried their hand at finding their “soul mates” in this fashion.

It started with “The Flavor of Love.” What a joke, Flavaaa flaaaaveee!… give me a break. There is no way that any of those women on that show were attracted to him. And if they were, then God bless them. However, at least by dating Flave they could always know what time it is.

No, what these contestants are really after is the money, although I’m not sure how much money Flave even had.

Let’s take a look at a more recent example. Chad Ochocinco, wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, recently held his own dating contest. Now here’s a guy who has plenty of money, probably doesn’t have any trouble getting girls and is certainly in no position to desire more attention.

I did hear rumor that he wouldn’t allow any African American women to compete. This has to be one of the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Holding a contest simply to attract some white women? Come on Ocho.

Anyways, if the purpose of these shows isn’t truly to find a match, what is it then? I just don’t see why its necessary to make a show out of this. I mean, it’s not like your dream girl is going to be among those thirty gold digging broads that they scraped off the streets.

Maybe I’m being a bit critical about all this but it just doesn’t make sense to me. Anyways, thanks for listening and please share your thoughts.
