For weeks, “Gossip Girl” fans have been waiting in anticipation to discover the fate of their favorite Upper East Side friends and foes.

This past Monday, the show returned from over a month-long season hiatus and many questions about the future of the characters and the mysterious “Gossip Girl” blogger herself were up in the air.

The 11th episode of the fifth season, titled “The End of the Affair,” took place in the aftermath of Chuck and Blair’s car accident, in which the couple was planning on escaping together, with Blair abandoning her future husband, Prince Louis.

Instead of continuing the show from the darkest hours, the season decided to flash forward in what seemed like a way to escape the melodrama that would have taken weeks to play out otherwise.

Prior to this episode, fans were unsure if Chuck would survive the car crash, what would happen with Blair, her baby and royal fiancé, if cousin Charlie would be discovered and what would happen to “Gossip Girl,” who both Nate and Serena were seeking to finally kick out of the Upper East Side once and for all.

In the opening scene of this past week's episode, Prince Louis and Chuck, who one would believe to be the ultimate enemies, bump into one another in the rain and discuss their concern for Blair.

As Chuck is invited to Blair’s home by Louis himself, Blair immediately leaves with both Chuck and “Chair” fans in total dismay and confusion.

After a flash back to the night of the crash, we watch Blair being told of the loss of her unborn child and then discovering that Chuck may be the next to leave her. As Blair enters the hospitals chapel, she prays that Chuck will survive and if he does, she will remain true to her vows to marry Louis.

Miraculously, as soon as Blair makes this statement the nurse enters to announce Chuck is alive and asking for Blair.

With Chuck, Blair, Louis and what appears to be Dan in a love square, the episode still had people questioning who Blair would wind up with.

The episode ends on New Years, and a faux relationship between Dan and Serena, the continuous on-and-off couple of the series, is created in hopes of getting both Chuck and Louis off of Blair’s back for her current state of sadness.

Overall, this episode was a bit of a disappointment for myself, as I had been hoping for a different turn out in the ‘Chair’ relationship. With the constant back and forth fromBlair, it leaves many viewers annoyed and eager for her to make up her mind or follow her heart already.

While I am frustrated with the show, I will continue watching "Gossip Girl" for more drama and excitement that is sure to come this season.
